This model of the Titanic is made entirely from heavy paper, about the weight of index paper. There were more than 100 pieces, each of which was cut out, folded and glued together over a period of a couple of months. My cats enjoyed using it as a toy, and as a result I spent some time hunting for parts that had been "liberated". It is 1:200 scale, and around 5 feet long. It is surprisingly light and rigid, due to the paper construction.
The "rotating titanic" effect was the result of my brother building a bluescreen (white, actually) at my house, and painstakingly rotating it about 15 degrees at a time while shooting frames with his digital video camera. The rotation effect is the result of JavaScript and careful planning. Now we just have to figure out how to sink it!
