This technical essay site was created to examine the digital compositing
in the Star Trek: Deep Space 9 episode, "Trials and
Tribble-ations"
which aired 11/9/96. The DS9 episode incorporated footage from Star Trek
episode 49, "The Trouble with Tribbles."
As a professional Digital Video Producer and former Special Effects
Director, I was interested in the technical details. As I was examining both
episodes for comparison, I thought that I might as well create a web site
for others who don't have access to both episodes and side-by-side monitors.
You can explore the site chronologically or using the scene
index. I have included some of my own observations and welcome your
input. If you have any insight into the making of this fantastic Deep Space
9 episode, drop me a note: trent@skotophile.com
